Sunburst card

Today I want to show you a card I made with the sunburst technique.

Its a card I made for my daughters friend,  we have a party this afternoon.

Its so simple to do using 4 strips of dsp cut 1.5 x 4 inches rectangle and cut on the diagonal.  Assemble the pieces from the centre outwards. Cover the bottom portion on the card with another piece of dsp and basically your done. Just decorate accordingly.

Pamper party

Right, left to almost the last minute to make two cards for a party my daughter is going to this evening.

I couldnt find anything I liked online until I came across some make up punch art-sorted!

With my daughter watching my every move I set to work. I didnt really knoww what I was doing but slowly and step by step I made 2 lipstcks, 2 eye shadows and 2 nail varnishes using up some of my scraps ( how I love my scraps!)

I embossed  the base card with polka dot embossing folder and using a stampin' sponge I rubbed over the dots with some blushing bride ink.

I assembled the card and using some new in clour ruffle stretch trim and a sentiment from the label love stamp set the cards were born!

Hope the girls like them!

all in a days work!

Hi

My Mr Brown showed up today with my class order from last week. As always there were lots of lovely new things to stroke and feel. Not all of it was mine so it had to be kept untouched and just admired from afar.

However, a had to get a few bit for myself of course. The new grid paper is amazing, printed both sides with little boxes for notes and wish lists.

Another buy had to be the new in colour ribbons

so lush that I don't want to open it!

Anyway, I'm here to show you the cards that I make to thank the ladies for coming to my class.

I made some textured paste ( equal parts of talc and PVA glue, a squirt of white paint and a touch of water to get it to the thickness you like to work with) and using a stencil from some sequin mesh I made some backgrounds for the cards on whisper white cardstock.

I found a scraper used in baking to spread on the paste

Can't see them too well here but they are drying.

Then with a bit of stamping, daubing and smudging the cards were born.

I hope the ladies like them. They were fun to make using a new skill.

Christmas Combo Class

Hi all!

Last night I held another of my classes, this one called Christmas Combo.

I love doing classes and hope my ladies do too. We do a lot more talking than making sometimes, giggling, sharing tips and trick and sometimes more importantly, sharing our worries, troubles and general stresses of life. It's all about relaxing and taking some well earned time out. There's always drinks and nibbles (sometimes of the boozy and chocolate kind!)

so, this class was centered around some new products from the Seasonal Catalogue as well as some from the Annual Catalogue.

These two cards were whipped up very quickly using the Season of Style Designer Journaling Tags ( p 22 of the Seasonal Catalogue 132808 £4.50) Theres a whopping 35 pre printed designer tags in this kit to choose from so theres plenty of ideas for cards.

For these cards we used the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack ( P22 of the Seasonal Catalogue £6.25 for 48 sheets of  2 double sided designs)  and the Merry Little Christmas Stamp set ( P 27 SC Wood - £12.95 Clear - £9.95)

I saved the best till last! Santa card made from punch art, oval framlets, and a bit of 'rouge' on santas cheeks. Dont you just love him? I used the White Stampin Chalk Marker ( P20 SC £3.25) to highlight the sparkle in his eyes and the sheen on the holly berries. I love this pen so much, it's like a felt tip but with more ompf!

If you'l like any of the products used in this class why not check out my online store: http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/inkyfingerswithjenie/

Birthday Plaque

Hi all

I saw a birthday plaque online and I've been wanting to case it for some time, this morning the urge was too much and I gave in!

Using some retired DSP, a couple of  circle punches, alphabet stamps and the alphabet typeset dies, I set to work. (I always use my retired stash when embarking on a new project, just incase it doesn't come out the way I wanted)

I am a very messy crafter, I know but I do like everything to hand!

It wasn't hard to make at all, nor did it take all that long either. The only thing holding me back was that I didn't have any jump rings big enough to attach the circles. So, while I am waiting for those to arrive in the post I stumbled across some binding rings I had in the bottom of one of my many bits and bobs draws. They'll do for now.

I have a lot more birthdays to add but I want to wait for the jump rings to arrive.

Bowled Over

I breathe a sigh of relief! After many months at the "drawing board" my son finally decided on what he wants for his 10th birthday party. It all came to a head tonight when I told him that he had to make a choice because we had to get invites out tomorrow. I had wanted to get them done and send out the for the first day back to school but that just didn't happen. If he left it any later he runs the risk of his friends not being able to make it.

He wanted a bowling party ( he had one a few years back and really enjoyed it). Me being me, had to make the invites but I had no stamps to fit the theme and no time to buy any either. So, I had to come up with a plan, make my own!

I hand drew  and cut the skittle from some kids foam sheet and made the stripes on the neck by pressing a metal rule down fairly hard to make the indentations. The bowling ball was punched out using the circle punch and the crop o dile for the the finger holes.

They're not perfect and had my son given me more time I would have been able to be a bit more creative. Up til tonight he wanted an X Box FIFA party so I was playing with the hexagon embossing folder, punch, and several stamps sets from the 2013-2014 catalogue.

Good night folks and happy crafting

Ebay Find

Morning crafters.

Today I need some of your ideas! Last week I bought a desk from Ebay to revamp for my husband for when he works from home. I knew that I wanted to paint it white to fit in with my shabby chic bedroom ( well, it will be when it's finished!) My problem is now that I'm not sure what way to go with it! I've been thinking of stampin butterflies onto it ( I did this with a small side table and it does look fab). I'm worried that this may be too girlie!

So, if you have any ideas to help me decide I would be most grateful

Hard Labour!

morning readers!

What an awful start to the day, grey skies and pouring of rain! Have some plans today to go visit a friend with a bouncy castle so the rain better go away or the kids will be moaning and we don't like moaning kids right?

Yesterday I decided that I'd had enough of our poor excuse of a garden. About 9 years ago we dug it up with the intention of laying a patio area. It never got finished so I got these foam squares to put down to make it a temporary safe area for my son to play . Needless to say they have been there since as our time and efforts have been distracted by other jobs in the house.

I'm embarrassed to show you these photos!

These are the before photos

My kids were little stars, giving me lots of help

My neighbor gave us a load of slabs and some bricks. So we got some sharp sand and started leveling off the ground. Now, I don't know much about laying a patio so he gave us some tips and tricks, along with a bunch of tools to get the job done.

This is the last photo I took but  we put a few more rows of slabs down before my husband came home, he was gobsmaked at the work we did. I need to wait for my dad to lend us a grinder to cut some slabs and we still need to sort the border with those bricks

Not bad for a girl eh!

Anyway, this leads me to my latest card. In way of thanks, I'm getting my neighbor a bottle of his favorite tipple and I made him this card. Well, actually I think I need to make a new one and do it in a more masculine colour. Maybe I'll give this one to his wife?

Pretty in pink

Morning crafters!

Another post from my phone today, my son is hogging the computer! Anyway the last post from my phone turned out ok.

An early make this morning, I had some pre stamped images left over from yesterday's bloom explosion card so thought I'd put them to good use.

I embossed a piece of  very vanilla cardstock the our woodgrain embossing folder and matted it onto some pretty in pink cardstock. I used the designer frames embossing folder to frame the sentiment, added some 3-d effect flowers from the best if flowers set, leaves from the bird punch and my card was born.

Mixed Bouquet

Hello pumpkins x

I have been inspired!!! A dear fellow demonstrator, Julie Elizabeth Mccartney, created a card that I could get out of my mind, I just had to have a go at my own creation.

I created this card using the Mixed Bunch, Best of Flowers, Everything Eleanor and Papillion Potpuri stamp sets. With a lot of punching and cutting, I assembled the mixed bouquet of flowers.

This card will be featuring in one of my upcoming classes, so contact me for more details if you would like to create one of your own.

Punch away!

Just a very quick post from my phone today, so apologies if the quality isn't so good.

I'm making a few things for the 3 day Stampin Up  Demonstrator Convention in November.  Yes, I know I'm early but I need to make as many swaps as I would like back and and seeing that I love getting swaps I want to make as possible, minimum of 100. Im not doing bad, I'm at the half way mark already! Besides,  I have team gifts to make as well as room mate gifts and more!

So,  today I want to show you a technique I stumbled across using the hexagon punch. If you're making banners or sentiment strips and want a crisp inverted triangle, just cut your paper or cardstock to size and slip on edge into the side of the punch,  so much faster and neater! Have a go and see what you think.

(Sorry about the ink stained grid mat, but I took the picture during a craft sesson last night.)

Sneek peek

My parcel arrived yesterday containing some of the lush products from the new winter catalogue out in September.  I dont know about you but sometimes some of my bits seem far too nice to open, cut up and stick with. Once I got over this hurdle of just stroking and admiring the unopened packets I had a tiny play with them this morning.

I started designing some Christmas cards, not for sending just yet but for futue classes, workshops and I usually give my husband a stack or two to sell for me at his work.

Instead of the usual tradition colours of greens and reds I used pool party and smokey slate papers and cardstock, such a lovely subtle combination.

Im sure that ill be make a shed load more but for now it's just to two.

The snowflake charm is removable so it can be used as a tree ornament.

Razzle Dazzle

Hi y'all!

It's my friends 30th this week and we're going out for a meal to celebrate. We already chipped together and got her a pressie but I wanted to make her a card just from me.

Now, she's the kinda gal that likes a bit of sparkle and shine. Dressing up to wow from top to toe so I wanted to create a bit of razzle dazzle in the card, but not too much.

A sparkly '30' cut from silver glimmer paper and the Alphabet dies, a few rhinestones and some champagne mist is more than enough dazzle.

I love my Scraps

hi all,
It's been a while since my last post, sometimes life gets in the way of crafting! The Summer holidays don't help, if I do get the urge, I'm taken over by my kids using my bits. Sorry but I am a bit selfish with my stash, they have their bits and I have mine. Although, as they get older they are a bit more respectful and careful with my stamps and punches.

Well, this morning I woke up early, for no reason. The kids were watching Transformers and I saw a window so I grabbed it! I got out my scraps boxes and set to work.

Yes, I have a problem with throwing away anything!

These are two cards that I came up with this morning,

The flower was made by punching several layers of packing tissue paper ( we just bought a new wardrobe and there was oodles of this brown tissue paper that I couldn't throw!), stapled in the middle and each layer scrunched up.

I stamped and punched the butterflies from some cardstock that I had been practicing my brayering on. They didn't quite work out but look great for this purpose.

If you feel like making a gift with a difference I hold classes to teach you how to make a variety of amazing cards and projects.
