A bit of grunge!

Today I've been playing with the Oh Hello stamp set. I love it, it's so versatile.  In total I've made 5 cards, vintage, masculine, feminine and the one I'm going to show you today.  Dont worry, I'll post pics of the others another day.
I was going to leave this card clean cut but the urge to grunge it up was overwhelming. I went with my gut and I'm glad I did, I'm very pleased with the results

Shhh....

I've been busy this weekend, my folder yesterday and last night a friend asked me to make a baby plaque. so this morning, while everyone was still sleeping, I thought i'd make use of the quiet time and get making..

I cut out all the letters (sorry, not a Stampin' Up! die!) and got to work assembling. Now, like many people, I  prepare the layout of any project before finally sticking it down. I've made so many mistakes in the past by being too rash, I've learnt my lesson.

I used the Sunshine and Sprinkles dsp for the background and bunting and some retired stripey grosgrain ribbon for the hanger.

Made to Measure

Today I was trying to explain to my husband that I needed some sort of file in the kitchen to keep the kids school letters and gumpf in. I looked in catalogues and online but couldn't find anything I liked. So, when he took the kids football (my little man got man of the match today and we are beaming with pride!) I decide to make my own.

Now, I completely winged this project from A4 cardstock, everything done by eye, not a measurement in sight (other than using the fab scoreboard to make the concertina parts of the folder.)

I added some pockets to the front and back to slot some note cards into. Thought this would also be good for any school tickets, raffle stubs etc

I punched a few scalloped circles to make tabs for each section.

So, now i can keep the kids stuff in some sort of order, no more late payments for trips, swimming, music lessons and what not!

I'm decorating my hall at the moment, I made some textured paint with sand and I'm slapping it on the walls then, quite literally, throwing iridescent glitter all over the wet paint. It looks lush and I'm about half way done with the painting. Just the skirting, coving and door frames to go!

Well, I've been at it for 3 1/2 hours today and have to stop so that I can clean up before school pick up. I had a few mins to spare today so I made this card that's been in my head for a while.

I'm usually a vintage girl but love the retro feel to this card.

Peterborough Training Day

Swallowtail Butterfly

Hi

My Mum and dad came over for a combination of Easter dinner and my birthday (although it's not til Wednesday but i'll tell you all about that in another post!).

We had a scrummy dinner cooked by moi! Lamb in red wine, dumplings and mash for those who didn't like the dumplings, ie my son! Followed by mini strawberry pavlova.

My parents got me the most chocolatey cake I think I have ever eaten, it was to die for!

My dad got my good side!!!

Anyway, this is not about me, yet! I'm here to show you pictures of some Swallowtail Butterflies I was stamping for my mum. I was showing her part of my birthday present from my husband, a whopping stash from Stampin' Up!. She saw the Swallowtail Butterfly stamp and fell in love! However, my mum is not a stamper, she is very crafty but more into sewing crafts and making plaques with hearts and butterflies. So, I proceeded to show her how easy and beautiful this stamp was, and she fell in love. She asked me to stamp her a few, I went a step further and embossed them too with scented embossing powder.

I wanted to show her a technique I especially like at the moment, Resist. Versamark and clear embossing powder then daubering over the picture. the ink resists the image and creates a wonderful effect. 

The next image is a bit naughty of me to put on here although is it still using my lush swallowtail butterfly.

I used a special kind of tacky glue and some gilding flakes to create this butterfly to add to her collection.

Postage Due

Hi everyone, hope you are having a wonderful Easter, even if it's a bit white and cold out there. As we speak we are having yet another snow 'flurry'!

This morning, I had a little play with a card that I've been thinking about for a while. Wasn't sure if it would work but I'm happy with the end result.
