Stampin Up does homework fun!

Yes, I said homework and fun in the same sentence!

I just had to share the with you.  My kids have to build a bug  from recycled materials for their school fete this week. My daugher had her heart set on butterflies flying. Together we came up with idea of using the Beautiful Butterflies die to cut butterflies from plastic bottles (cleaned out first of course!)

Once cut she then coloured them using permenent markers. She then asked me to stick them onto a dried up stick from the garden, I used a hot glue gun for this.

I was surprised at the end result.

I mustn't forget  my sons' handy work, he built a ladybird from an old computer mouse.

Lacey borders

A quick post this morning from my mobile so apologies if it's not the best quality!
Todays post is about a card I have made for my aunt, she needs some love right now so I thought this is the best way I can show I care about her.
I've used the lace border punch with the technique from my last post. A bit of duabering the egdes to age the card, a seam binding bow and sentiment and butterflies from the precious butterflies stamp set.
I hope she likes it and it brings a smile to her face.

Have a happy day, filled with wonderful things.

Lace border punch

Today I stumbled across a lovely tip I want to share with you.

I was playing around with the lace border punch and came up with these cute squares.

Start off with a  5x 5 inch square, centre along the edge Nd punch all 4 sides. You are left with a complicated looking die cut, between you and me it's easy. Soon I will post a few projects using this technique.

Have fun experimenting.

Don't throw away your left overs!

I don't know about you but I always have left overs from card sessions, extra stamped images, odds and ends of ribbon, die cuts and unwanted punches!
This evening I decided to try and create some cards just from a box of scraps and leftovers all with a thank you theme. The colours are just left from prepping for a workshop last night, all the unwanted bits after changing my mind so many times on my demonstration.
So here are the cards that I came up with:

Stampin Up quick cards
scribbles die, chocolate chip  & baja breeze cardstock, butterfly embossilts, just believe stamp set, i heart hearts stamp set, designer labels punch, build a bird punch.

Embosslits butterflies, scribbles die, decorative label punch, baja breeze cardstock

vanilla satin ribbon, bird punch, scribbles die, baja breeze cardstock

Just Believe, chocolate chip

I Heart Hearts, decorative label punch, chocolate chip satin ribbon, rhinestones

negative of scribbles die, butterfly embosslits, vanilla satin ribbon

I think this is my favourite, it's a Chocolate Chip negative of the scribbles die matted onto some Baja Breeze cardstock, a few embosslits butterflies dotted around, a rhinestone and a sentiment. I am absolutely addicted to making ribbon roses at the moment, they seem to appear on so many of my recent cards. I love the colour scheme of this card too, for some reason it looks so much more striking than the others, even though they are all using the same left overs!

So, ladies and gentlemen, don't throw away your left overs, you never know what you can create with them.

Fresh and Clean!

I have been worrying about what type of Fathers Day cards to make for the men in my life. One into computers and programming and the other into woodwork and power tools! Not being able to find anything I like on these subjects so after countless hours of searching for ideas I gave up! I decided that I would just show them the love I have for them and try and put it onto a card. They both like clean cut and fresh cards, not my usual vintage distressed look, so I came up with this:

Off to the post office now, hope they like them.
